Holy Week and Lent at Grace Church

Holy Week is the most sacred time of year as we walk in the footsteps of Jesus during the last days of his life, from his triumphal entry into Jerusalem to his death upon the cross, until we celebrate with great joy the day of his resurrection.  We hope you will join us every step of the way.

Palm Sunday – April 5  We remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with two services at 8:00 and 10:15 a.m., both of which include the Liturgy of the Palms, reading of the Passion and Holy Communion. Our second service begins at 10:15 with a procession around the neighborhood. Families with children are invited to arrive early to meet Mr. Britches, a donkey similar to the one Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

Maundy Thursday – April 9  On Maundy Thursday, we reenact Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples with a service at 7:30 p.m. featuring Foot Washing, Holy Communion and the Stripping of the Altar.

Good Friday – April 10  Services at 12 noon and 7:30 p.m. commemorate the day Christ died upon the cross.

Easter Egg Dyeing – Saturday, April 11  Bring two dozen hard boiled eggs, your family and friends, and join us as we dye Easter eggs from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Undercroft.  Dye will be provided.  Keep a dozen eggs for your family and leave a dozen to be used in Sunday’s Easter Egg Hunt, which takes place after our 9:15 a.m. Easter service.

Easter Sunday – April 12  We celebrate the resurrection of Christ with three festival services at 7:45 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 5:30 p.m. The early morning service at 7:45 features music, small choir ensemble, readings and sermon. The 9:15 service is very family friendly and is highlighted by music from our children’s choirs, as well as readings and sermon. The 11:15 service features our adult choir, readings and sermon.  Remember to enter the church through the main entrance on Grace Church Road and help flower the cross at this entrance as a symbol of Jesus’ triumph over the cross and grave.
