Advent at Grace Church

Advent is a time of hope and anticipation as we look for Christ coming into the world, and we have many ways to experience this special season and share God’s grace with those around us.

Christmas Bazaar – Saturday, December 1
Forget about Black Friday. The real deals on quality, hand-made crafts, fair-trade gifts, jewelry, ornaments and baked goods can be found at the Grace Church Christmas Bazaar!!  Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our wonderful Men’s Group. Bid on lovely silent auction items. Invite your friends and neighbors to join in the fun!

Advent Wreath Making  – Sunday, December 2
We start the season of Advent with Advent wreath making from 9:00-10:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Parishioners are invited to make an Advent wreath for their family to help countdown to Christmas. Advent Wreath kits are $10 each and include wreath form, candles, candle holders, and greens.  We ask that each family make only 1 wreath.  Please join us in marking the beginning of the Advent season.  For more information contact Rev.  Amanda.

Advent Small Group Study Begins – Wednesday, December 5 @ 6:30 p.m.
As we move into the hectic holiday season, time for prayer, spiritual reflection and silence is even more needed as we prepare our hearts for Christmas. You are invited this Advent to join in a small group study using the book “Silence and Other Surprising Invitations of Advent” by Enuma Okoro.  This book has brief daily reflections based on the story of Elizabeth and Zechariah, the parents of John the Baptist, found in Luke’s Gospel.  This group will be led by Rev. Rachel Cornwell, Grace parishioner, and will meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on December 5, 12, & 19 in the Robinson Room. To RSVP, please email sunny@graceepiscopalchurch.org.

Second Sunday Supper – Sunday, December 9
Immediately following our 5:30 p.m. worship service, we will have dinner in the Undercroft. There is no need to bring anything, so come join us for worship, food and
fellowship.

Blue Christmas Service – Tuesday, December 18 @ 7:30 p.m.
Not everyone is in the mood for Christmas cheer. Sometimes, Christmas is something just to get past rather than look toward. Dealing with a loved one’s death, facing life after divorce, or coping with an illness can dampen the Christmas spirit and make celebrating painful. If you are feeling “blue” this Christmas, join us for a special Blue Christmas service, as we search for light amidst the darkness.
