Wade in the Water Upcoming Events

Sunday, March 10 @ 12:00 p.m.
Discussion: Letter from Birmingham Jail
“Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.” This quote, from the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” is one of many that are recalled on MLK Day, when America honors a beloved champion of Civil Rights.  But, what do the words of Dr. King mean to us today?  Join Wade in the Water, our ministry for racial justice, for this important discussion, which will take place at 12 noon in the multipurpose room of the Parish Hall building.

Friday, March 15 @ 6:30 p.m.
Dinner & Discussion: What do children “know” about diversity and identity?
Why is it so hard to talk to my children about the “–isms”? Join us for a
discussion on these topics with Nicole C. Lee, Esq., a diversity and inclusion expert, leadership coach, and nationally recognized speaker. Parents will have a chance to pose tough questions and get on–the–spot coaching. Childcare will be provided by Wade in the Water, our ministry for racial justice. Dinner will be provided, but please bring a dessert or beverage to share. RSVP to sunny@graceepiscopalchurch.org

Saturday, March 23 @ 7:30 p.m.
Discussion: Social Justice through the Power of Music
Come prepared to be moved by the power of music! Please join us and Grace Member Jamie Ferrugia as he leads us through an exploration of social justice themes through the music and powerful lyrics of three artists: Michael Franti (Spearhead), Bruce Hornsby, and Alabama Shakes. We will listen with lyric sheets to a song from each of these artists and discussion will follow. This event will be hosted at the home of Yvonne VanLowe, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served, but seating is limited. RSVP to sunny@graceepiscopalchurch.org
