09:30 a.m. Strolling Seniors: Maryland State House

Strolling Seniors to Tour Maryland State House
Thursday, June 27

Join the Strolling Seniors as they tour the beautiful Maryland State House, which is the oldest state capitol in continuous legislative use and the only state house ever to have served as the nation’s capitol. The Continental Congress met in the Old Senate Chamber from November 26, 1783 to August 13, 1784. During that time, George Washington came before Congress to resign his commission as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and the Treaty of Paris was ratified, marking the official end of the Revolutionary War. We will tour the Senate and House office buildings, historic rooms, a committee room, and the tunnels to the State House room, and we may meet the rep or visit their staff. The tour will then continue on to the famous Cantlers Riverside Inn (458 Forest Beach Rd, Annapolis, MD 21409) for a wonderful lunch.

If attending, email Mary Monti at monti.mary216@gmail.com. You will pay for lunch; the tour is free. Meet at the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. Bring a picture ID with you.
